HIXNY Recognizes Several Capital Region & Northern New York Healthcare Professionals and Organizations

 

ALBANY, NEW YORK - Approximately 200 healthcare professionals from the Capital Region and Northern New York gathered last night, December 13, for the Healthcare Information Xchange of New York (HIXNY)'s 2011 annual meeting to discuss the growth and expansion of the region's health information exchange as well as to recap the organization's accomplishments over the past year.


As part of the program, several Capital Region and Northern New York healthcare professionals and organizations were recognized by HIXNY in their efforts to continue the advancement of the region's health information exchange to improve the quality and delivery of care for healthcare consumers throughout the region. Those recognized included:John Collins, MD, chief medical officer at Northeast Health and current chair of the HIXNY board of directors was honored with the Helping Hand Award.

  • The Adirondack Region Medical Home Pilot, represented by Chandler Ralph, CEO of Adirondack Medical Center, Stephens Mundy, CEO of CVPH Medical Center and Dr. John Rugge, CEO of Hudson Headwaters Health Network, was honored with the Community Collaboration Award.
  • Hudson Headwaters Health Network, represented by John Dudla, director of athena services, received the Technology Excellence Award for their work in electronic medical record interoperability with the health information exchange.
  • Albany Medical Center, represented by George Hickman, chief information officer, received the Technology Excellence Award for their work in deepening the health information exchange.
  • Northeast Health, represented by Robert Duthe and Jon Nolin, was honored with the Pilot Award for their participation in the Medication Reconciliation Pilot.
  • Charles Hagstrand, chief information officer at CapitalCare Medical Group; Michael Dunay, database administrator at Northeast Health; Bruce Fowler, information services manager at Saratoga Hospital; Terri Tyler, clinical analyst at Seton Health; Gene Coffey, solutions development lead at St. Mary's Hospital and Diane Gardner, associate provider systems coordinator at St. Mary's Hospital were each recipients of the Shining Star Award.
  • Receiving the HIXNY Pioneer Award were Ben Tonneau, MD from CapitalCare Medical Group; Leslie Goldstein, MD from Northeast Nephrology Associates, PC and Anneke Pribis, MD with Galway Family Health and Saratoga Hospital.
