HIXNY Promotes Two and Hires Outreach Specialist

 

ALBANY, NY (June 2, 2010) -Healthcare Information Xchange of New York (HIXNY), a not-for-profit organization comprised of local physician groups, hospitals, health care associations, health plans, institutions of higher learning, government, employers and other healthcare entities announced today that it promoted Joel Ryba to chief operating officer (COO) and Kim Sapienza to membership and communications coordinator and hired Theresa Creten as health information technology adoption specialist.

 

Joel Ryba has been named chief operating officer (COO) and will be responsible for the oversight of technology acquisition and implementation and the technical specifications and operation of all HIXNY products.  He joined HIXNY in 2009 as chief technology officer.   Prior to joining HIXNY, Ryba served as IT Director with the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services, vice president at the Grandoe Corporation, and manager of software development for Mercatus, a division of Health Solutions, Ltd.  He has held IT management positions with Lockheed Martin and Taylor Corp. as well as worked as a consultant for Fidelity Investments, IBM, and Edison Parking Corp.  Ryba earned an MBA from the State University of New York at Albany and a bachelor's degree in computer science from Empire State College.

 

Kim Sapienza has been named membership and communications coordinator and is responsible for committee outreach, communications and marketing support.  Sapienza joined HIXNY in 2008.    She most recently worked for CORESense, Inc. and also held positions with Lexis Nexis, Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield and New York State Electric and Gas. 

 

Theresa Creten has been named health information technology adoption specialist and will be responsible for outreach to HIXNY members, developing implementation strategies, conducting training and providing technical support for HIXNY users in physician offices and hospitals.  Most recently she worked for the New York State Association for Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services and interned at the New York State Department of Health's AIDS Institute.  Creten holds a master's of public health degree from the State University of New York at Albany and bachelors' degrees in biology and psychology from Clarkson University.
