in Albany

Free program for physicians to learn about Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Federal Incentives

ALBANY, NY (April 27, 2010) - Healthcare Information Xchange of New York (HIXNY), a not-for-profit organization comprised of local physician groups, hospitals, health care associations, health plans, institutions of higher learning, government, employers and other healthcare entities announced today that it is demonstrating its health information exchange portal at the New York Electronic Health Records (EHR) Meaningful Use Summit in Albany on June 2, 2010, at the Marriott Hotel.

Providers can register for the summit here: www.nyacp.org.

This free full-day program will address meaningful use incentives for physicians as well as demonstrate how electronic health records (EHRs) can help their practices. Physicians will hear from experts regarding how the meaningful use criteria and EHRs translate to better quality care for patients and improved public health. They will also learn about who qualifies for federal incentives, how to meet federal criteria, and where to get assistance selecting, implementing, and using EHR technology.

As part of the program, HIXNY, the Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) serving the Capital Region and northern New York state, will demonstrate its health information exchange and e-RX portals. Vendors will also be exhibiting and demonstrating the latest EHR technology available.

"This is a great opportunity for physicians and their staffs to learn about the new technology that is changing the healthcare landscape," stated HIXNY CEO Dominick Bizzarro.

The Meaningful Use Summit is sponsored by the New York e-Health Collaborative (NYeC), NYC REACH, and the New York Chapter American College of Physicians (NYACP).
