HIXNY Welcomes New Member Organizations
Employers, Government and Education Bring Important Perspective to Collaboration
ALBANY, NY (February 10, 2010) - Healthcare Information Xchange of New York (HIXNY), a not-for-profit organization comprised of local physician groups, hospitals, health care associations, health plans, institutions of higher learning, government, employers and other healthcare entities announced today that four organizations in the Capital Region have become members. The new members represent employers, government, education, and physicians and bring an important and needed perspective to the collaborative work of HIXNY.
The new members of HIXNY include:
County of Albany, represented by John Rodat, Commissioner, Department of Management and Budget;
Medical Society of the County of Albany, represented by David Shulan, MD, President;
Center for Economic Growth, the first member of the employer membership class, represented by F. Michael Tucker, CEO; and
Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, represented by David Kile, administrative director of the Research Institute for Health Outcomes; program director for graduate programs in social and administrative sciences; and instructor in the department of pharmacy practice.
"HIXNY was created to promote collaboration among all healthcare stakeholders. Employers in particular are an important stakeholder and we're excited to add that perspective as we move forward with the health information exchange and other initiatives," said Dominick Bizzarro, HIXNY CEO. "We will continue to add to our membership ranks and include all types of organizations with a vested interest in developing better healthcare in the Greater Capital Region and Northern New York state."
