ALBANY, NEW YORK - Healthcare Information Xchange of New York (HIXNY) today announced that Mark McKinney has been named chief executive officer, effective October 17. McKinney, formerly director of integrated services with SXC Health Solutions, brings nearly 20 years of experience in delivering strategic growth through product development for leading health information technology organizations to his new role with HIXNY.

"Mark's experience and proven ability to deliver technology solutions to a variety of healthcare entities was a vital consideration in selecting a new executive to continue HIXNY's growth and connectivity throughout the Capital Region and Northern New York," said John A. As HIXNY's new CEO, McKinney will be responsible for the leadership and operational management of the regional health information organization, establishing the strategic direction and overseeing its development and execution to further advance the health information exchange.

"Health information technology is at the forefront in creating a health system that enhances the quality of care being provided to patients and HIXNY is playing an integral role in this community effort," McKinney said. "I look forward to working with the HIXNY member organizations and other healthcare stakeholders to continue the mission that has created so much collaboration in our community among so many health care providers."
