Many physicians have enthusiastically embraced the efforts to participate in HIXNY's health information exchange (HIE) and advance healthcare into the electronic age.
The HIE is a secure information service allowing providers to access community-wide patient medical data based on patient consent. The HIE contains patient medication history; patient demographic and allergy data; diagnoses; lab results; image reports; hospital discharge summaries; and other transcribed and departmental reports.
Providers can access the HIE through the HIXNY portal or through their own electronic medical record (EMR) system. Click here to find out which EMRs are interoperable with HIXNY.
Participating in the HIE can help providers become elgible for federal financial incentives by demonstrating "meaningful use" of electronic health records.
