As we came into this month, we looked back on our first year of expansion into the Southern Tier and Lower Hudson Valley.

It feels really good to be able to say that we’ve gained a lot of traction in that time—over a 2000% increase in connections, to be exact. We have been pleased to find that our reputation, technology and services are resonating with the healthcare community in the region. Providers are engaging with Hixny and their connectivity is improving the ability to care for patients.

In fact, right now we’re in the process of implementing a number of new connections. So far, the following are either contributing data or completing the complex process that allows those contributions:

    • 9 hospitals and the 125 practices affiliated with them
    • 10 skilled nursing facilities
    • 27 small practices and other regional entities
    • 1 behavioral health provider

As we’ve gone through this process, we’ve taken a good look at how the needs of this community differ from that of other parts of our region. While we knew that community healthcare delivery is very different in that region than in our original area, we’ve learned so much more in the last year. Most importantly, patients seek care differently—because of geographic distribution, easy access to care in neighboring states and the number of healthcare organizations based in New York City that offer services in the Lower Hudson Valley.

So, we’ve been able to confirm what we thought we knew going in—that providers want complete, accurate and up-to-date information, easily accessible in their workflow. Using this as a guiding principle, we have tailored our approach to reflect the needs of this unique community and help them achieve success. We’ve heard from providers that this ability to be flexible in supporting them is helpful. The proof continues to come out in their growing commitment to their Hixny connections.

Hixny will be performing extended maintenance beginning Thursday, December 31 through Friday, January 1. During this time, all services
will be impacted and unavailable—including access to the provider portal.
